SRP (Summer Reading Program)

Starting on Thursday, July 2nd at 2pm, and running for 4 weeks, we will be holding our Summer Reading Program.   The theme this year is "Every Hero Has a Story" and we have different heroes coming in to read a story and talk about their professions.   To start off on July 2nd Doug Stoll will be reading and talking about his experiences in the military.  On July 16th Becky Knight who is a scientist will read and talk about the important work scientists perform.  On July 23rd the programs is about a woman who raises bats.  I know some would say "Bats, ewwww!" but bats can be heroes too.  Did you know many tropical plant species depend entirely on bats for the distribution of their seeds?  And an ordinary brown bat can eat up to 100 percent of its body weight each night, approximately 1,200 insects per hour.  Come hear about these and other heroes during the month of July.  Stop in at the library and sign up today!!
